Olivia’s Ten Minutes of Kindness

In 2015, three-year-old Olivia Swedberg made national media headlines when she saved multiple lives through organ donation.

Olivia was the daughter of Brock Swedberg and Lauressa Gillock, and big sister to Sophia. Olivia was spirited and strong-willed. On most days, you could find her donning a tutu and tiara and singing and dancing to “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen. Olivia loved to be given jobs, like unloading the dishwasher or helping her dad in the garage.

When Olivia was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor (DIPG), her parents chose to forgo chemotherapy and radiation, and instead make the most of the time they had with their daughter. Olivia died less than three months later, but today, her spirit still lives on through her gift of life.

Take a picture or video of your act of kindness and post it on social media. Use the hashtag #Olivias10MinutesofKindness. Share Olivia’s story, or the story of your own loved one impacted by organ and tissue donation, and how they made a difference in your life and the lives of others. Encourage others to participate, too.
