Daniel Scott grew up in a large family in McCook, Nebraska. His parents and five siblings say Daniel was best known for his infectious laugh. Daniel’s deep faith was reflected in the kindness and caring he showed to others. He collected Bibles and crosses and enjoyed watching TV and shopping.
Daniel impacted 137 lives when he became a donor hero in 2021. Recipients in 27 states have been saved or healed by Daniel’s gift of life.
Daniel’s gifts of organ and tissue donation have restored the health and quality of life for people of all ages. One of Daniel’s kidney recipients suffered from an aggressive inherited disease that required a transplant at the age of 39. He looks forward to traveling again and living a long, healthy life with his wife. A tissue transplant helped a woman in her 20s correct a condition that caused her knee to dislocate every time she bent it. Another tissue recipient hoped to regain her ability to walk, hike and snowshoe following surgery to repair damage caused when a horse stepped on and fractured her foot.
Daniel’s parents Darwin and Vicki say Daniel’s donation brought purpose to their loss.
“Daniel helped other people and changed their lives for the better. And in a way, a part of him lives through these people. The letters we have received from the recipients have touched our whole family very deeply.”
