Sara Steiner loved life. A successful medical recruiter for RTG Medical, she was known and loved for her smile and infectious personality. Sara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, traveling and golfing. Above all, she loved being a mom to her daughter, Zooey.
Sara impacted 93 lives when she became a donor hero in 2018. Recipients in 22 states have been saved or healed by Sara’s decision to register as an organ and tissue donor.
Sara’s gifts of organ and tissue donation have benefitted patients as young as two years old and others into their 80s. Recipients have healed from spinal fusions, mastectomies and ACL tears. One of Sara’s kidneys allowed a grandfather to meet his new granddaughter; her lungs replaced the damaged lungs of a man who had worked in coal mines for 35 years.
Sara’s husband Joe says he’s proud Sara has created positive change for so many families.
“Sara’s donation gives us all a sense that she is still here. It’s comforting knowing that this tragic accident was able to spare other families from more heartbreak. The gift of donation is a selfless act that I hope many more consider doing.”
