Donor Sabbath – Celebrating Faith & the Gift of Life

October 13, 2023

National Donor Sabbath is observed annually two weekends before Thanksgiving. During National Donor Sabbath, faith leaders and members of the donation and transplantation community come together to educate the public about the need for the lifesaving and healing gifts passed to others through transplantation, while also encouraging people to register their decision to be organ, eye and tissue donors.

While most communities of faith embrace organ and tissue donation as a final act of love and generosity, research indicates that some people believe donation does not align with their religious beliefs.

Together, we can create meaningful dialogue that provides congregants comfort in their decision to register and hope for those in need of a lifesaving transplant.
