My dad passed away in 1998. He received 2 kidney transplants during his lifetime which gave us an extra 22 years years with him. He was a state patrol man and his badge number was #89. As long as I can remember my parents plates always had 89 on them. When my mom passed I decided I would continue on with my dad's badge # and initials on a donate life plate. KC 89

I lost my father, Jerry Heins on 12/22/19, after a long bout with COPD, as a side effect from agent orange exposure as a Marine in the Vietnam War. Due to extenuating factors, he could only donate so much but we were comforted in our decision by the great work of LON. I’m also a Massage therapist and my studio name is A Gifted Touch Massage. So this plate was the perfect fit!

I wanted something other than the standard issue license plate design. This was chosen, being a registered organ and tissue donor. When I'm gone, take any of those things that can help save one or more lives, go for it; whatever's usable, before putting me in the ground.

These plates are in honor of our daughter Holly. Holly passed away 15 days after a 2019 auto accident. Holly was so proud to register as an organ donor, little did she know she would become a donor at 28 years old. Holly has now fulfilled her passion to help others by giving the gift of life. Holly is greatly missed by her three young children, fiancé, parents, sisters and dog Lea.

This plate is for my husband/best friend/soulmate of 30+ years who died suddenly in March 2020. I have not been the same since he died. A large part of me died with him. He was a tissue donor hero, and not only am I proud of him and his life, I am proud of his donation after his death. I got these plates as a tribute to him, and so people are made aware of this wonderful organization.

We chose the message “U CAN” for our donate life plates. The phrase “yes you can” became special words in many ways through our son's liver transplant and recovery. “Yes you can” has become an ongoing message of hope, moving forward & now passing on to others that yes “U CAN” give the gift of life. You can choose to register as an organ & tissue donor & you can be someone’s hero.

I donated a kidney to my mom in 2017. I had always wanted to get a personalized plate, but just hadn't gotten around to it. So when I saw the "Donate Life' specialty license plates last month, I knew it was time! While my mom passed away in December 2020 due to pneumonia caused by COVID-19, her kidney was still going strong and being the "rock star" that it always had been.

I went into kidney failure at age 5 after an acute illness and lived with only partial function for 20+ years. My function continued to decline as I got older, and I had to start peritoneal dialysis. I hoped to be a direct kidney donor to my friends son. Unfortunately I was unable to help him and he died. I then agreed to be a non-directed donor. I donated my kidney in 2017. I later learned that I was the first person in an 18 person chain. Nine people donated and nine people received kidneys. I feel that I got more than I gave by donating my kidney. My plate stands for LIVING DONOR.
